The ‘Jardin Urbain’ Association is launching a competition of ideas with a pre-selection procedure, based on the subject of the urban garden, its aims being to investigate the potential for creating and planting 25 mobile gardens could be。Following the competition, in the second phase, the winning projects will receive a draft agreement to complete their planned gardens part of the ‘Lausanne-Jardins’ event in 2014


This competition is open to teams selected on the basis of a completed application. Each group of candidates will compete on a site determined by the jury and a team of experts (see 6) on the basis of the candidates’ preference (1st and 2nd choice) between the 25 sites which make up the route proposed by the curators of the event.

Competition conditions

Applications that do not meet the requirements of the rules in force will be excluded. By submitting their project, competitors inherently accept the validity of the rules and agree to respect all decisions of the jury.The absence of a professional in gardening within the team will lead to the immediate disqualification of the team. Such teams will not appear in the list of competition prize-winners, nor will be awarded a certificate of achievement for their project.

The jury prefers five main criteria of judging :

  • How the site is best interpreted and shown off.
  • The innovation shown in the design strategy.
  • The originality of the project and the surprises it brings
  • The innovation shown in use of plants.
  • Feasibility of the project, particularly in terms of budget.


The jury has at its disposal a total sum of 50,000. – SFr to be distributed for prizes and commendations.Having studied the projects, the jury has the freedom to decide how the prizes and commenations will be awarded.
