The ULI/Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition, now in its eleventh year, offers graduate-level students the opportunity to form their own multidisciplinary teams and engage in a challenging exercise in responsible land use.
This competition is an ideas competition; there is no expectation that any of the submitted schemes will be applied to the site. Student teams comprising at least three disciplines will have two weeks to devise a comprehensive design and development program for a real, large-scale site full of challenges and opportunities. Submissions will consist of boards that include drawings, site plans, tables, and market-feasible financial data.ULI will announce this year’s competition site on Jan. 14, 2013, which is the day the competition officially gets underway.
This year, the Hines Competition is only accepting applications via an online system. You must review the complete application instructions, found on the “Submitting Your Application” section, before applying. The application form will require the following information:
ULI will assemble a multidisciplinary jury of land use experts for this Competition. Names and bios of the jurors will be added to the office site on an ongoing basis.
