    The Competition

situate is an international sculpture competition for Perth, Western Australia.

    Forrest
Place, which is the location of a proposed major multi-million dollar
upgrade, has been announced as the site for the artwork.

situate has been designed to encourage innovative partnerships between creative minds from a range of disciplines.

$1 million is being offered for an artwork to transform the city landscape.

Prospective entrants in the situate competition are strongly encouraged to register. You will then be notified of changes to this site.

    The Challenge

The artwork designed through the situate competition will be the single largest art commission undertaken in Western Australia.

    The
competition provides a model of cooperation between the State and Local
Governments to deliver major commissioned artworks within the city CBD.
It is an invitation to think creatively about what we want from our
capital city: a living experience which draws on our strengths of
openness and entrepreneurship, nourished by our emotions, aspirations
    and imagination.

The Western Australian Government has been a
leader in fostering creative partnerships between artists, architects,
landscape architects and other design professionals. This has provided
tangible illustrations of what can be achieved when committed to the
belief that our sense of place and regional identity can be reflected
    in our built environment.

    Eligibility

    Eligible

Individual artists are encouraged to enter the competition in
collaboration with an appropriately qualified team. Teams that comprise
a combination of artists, architects, landscape architects, urban

team does not need to nominate sub-consultants in Stage 1 but should
identify the key members responsible for the concept design. Entrants
are required to nominate a principal in the event that they are the

To be selected to proceed to Stage 2 of the competition, entrants
must demonstrate the capacity to successfully complete a contract for a

successfully completed projects of a similar scale and complexity, and
guarantee that they have the resources to complete the post-competition

purposes of the competition during the competition period are
ineligible to enter the competition or to assist an entrant.

Any person who may be reasonably expected to have an unfair
advantage through access to information concerning the competition by
reason of any other relationship with any ineligible person referred to
above, may be declared by the competition adviser to be ineligible to
enter the competition or to assist an entrant. If proponents believe
